About BOWEN & POUNDS
Bowen & Pounds are a Folk Pop duo based in Bournemouth, England. The band consists of Lewis Bowen (Bass Guitar & Vocals) and Thomas Pounds (Acoustic Guitar & Vocals). Tom and Lewis have been lifelong friends since meeting in preschool and over the years they developed a shared interested in both Music & Art. Whist both at Art College in 2011, they were heavily influenced by the likes of Newton Faulkner, The John Butler Trio and many more musicians so decided to form the duo and pursue their passion together.
In their songwriting they focus heavily on vocal harmonies, dynamics and utilising both instruments along with their unique vocal style to create full impactful songs. Although they describe themselves as Folk Pop, a lot of their songs vary in style and genre, ranging from upbeat, rhythmic, melodic and heavy, allowing for a diverse performance. The lead vocals change every song as they both bring their own stories and experiences to the table. Bowen & Pounds cover a lot of themes in their writing from yearning for love and friendship to self-improvement, mental illness and the day to day struggles that come with it. Each song has great meaning and importance to them and always draws out their best performance.
Bowen & Pounds released their debut EP Ignition in 2014 and are currently writing an album whilst performing on the local music scene. They recently won the Live & Loud Competition in Wimborne and will be performing at the 2018 Wimborne Minster Folk festival as well as Party in the Paddock. They are both driven to finish writing their album and get back in the studio and most of all continue doing what they love and performing their songs live.
